JOB PURPOSE: The Director of Estimating will manage all aspects of estimating including but not limited to establishing standard operating procedures, bid strategies, schedules, and mentoring all estimating staff.

• Management and training of estimating staff
• Bid-specific bid strategy
• Estimating responsibilities for all bids: Pre-bid meeting attendance, Calls, Takeoff required, Scope responsibilities, and Bid delivery
• Bid schedule and resource allocation for all bids
• Determine systems/forms used by estimating their implementation
• All communication between the bonding/insurance company regarding items required for all bids (Bid bonds, Insurance costs)
• Verification of all add-on costs used in all estimates
• Management of entire bid / estimate process to ensure a successful bid
• Review and approval of all takeoff and estimated amounts for all self-performed items
• Estimate set up
• General Conditions estimate
• Alternate, unit cost and bid breakdown set-up
• Bid Day
• Analyze / estimate competitors bid amounts
• Manage all value engineering processes & preconstruction services
• Complete all rebuilt estimates

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Construction / Project Management, or equivalent required
• 15+ years general construction experience in the commercial space or the like with a concentration on pre-construction and estimating
• Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word and estimating and earthworks software; On-screen Takeoff, Timberline experience preferred
• The candidate will have a track record of proven leadership abilities (communication, relationship building, training & development, employment decisions) as well as commercial general construction estimating and pre-construction experience
• Possess the following knowledge of codes:
o Standard building codes
o Local codes
o State Fire Marshall requirements
o Other authorities having jurisdiction
• Possess knowledge of design:
o Architectural
o Structural
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
